Dyfed Farm Vets is described on its website as a dedicated farm-only practice, formed in July 2021 by merging the farm departments of Carmarthen Veterinary Centre and Market Hall Vets. It focuses on routine and herd/flock work (dairy, beef/suckler, sheep and goats), with facilities for examining and treating small ruminants and an on-site dispensary/pharmacy.
In reviews, owners give mixed signals: two reviewers say the team “go above and beyond” and mention free telephone advice, while one reviewer raises a serious complaint about the conduct of a large-animal vet outside of clinic work (relating to a dog attack and alleged lack of follow-through/compassion). One reviewer also references help from “small animal vets,” which doesn’t neatly match the “farm-only” positioning on the website.

Always go above and beyond for both of farm animals and our household animals too. I can’t recommend enough.

We have always found Dyfed Farm Vets to very excellent. They have done their very best for our animals going above and beyond on a number of occasions. They also happily give free advice over the telephone which is very much appreciated.

As far as I am aware they continue to employ a large animal vet whose dog attacked another leashed dog off leash leaving it with injuries that he said he would treat at their home (I assume to avoid being reported) and then failed to attend a second time as promised. Weeks later his dog attacked and killed our cat, again whilst off leash, he left our cat under our car and left a note (which didn’t explain what had happened at all, just saying to call him). He didn’t make an effort to take the cat to the vets for treatment (2 minutes away) or even to be taken care of, when he spoke to me later he said he was running late for work, so he was going there anyway and made the decision to leave our cat dead under our car to be discovered by us. I would question the judgement of continuing to walk your dog off leash when it’s already attacked an on leash dog in the same estate, children frequently play where our cat was attacked and killed. Small animal vets were terrific in dealing with our cat once discovered, the way the large animal vet acted showed no compassion for animals whatsoever.
