Mochdre Vets describes itself as an independent practice and a Veterinary and Rehabilitation Centre, with on-site facilities such as CT scanning, a hydrotherapy pool, and an underwater treadmill. The practice is also listed as a Veterinary Nurse Training facility and states it is a Gold Standard Cat Friendly Clinic. In recent reviews, owners most often mention support for complex cases (e.g., hydrotherapy for a dog with a neurological condition; investigation/treatment for suspected gastrointestinal bleeding and severe anaemia) and being kept informed during inpatient care—including one owner saying they were allowed to visit their dog during a stay. A minority of reviews describe serious negatives, including concerns about seeing a vet without the requested pregnancy experience, and a separate complaint about missed clinical signs and interpretation of imaging before a second opinion identified lymphoma.

Mochdre Vets is truly wonderful and by far the best veterinary practice I’ve ever used. The care and attention shown by all the staff to both pets and their owners is outstanding. I’ve been using Mochdre Vets for almost nine years and have always received excellent service. It means so much to have a local vet that offers such a wide range of services. I would highly recommend Mochdre Vets to any pet owner.

I have been with this practice since they opened. Although it has grown in size they have managed to keep their friendly and caring feeling intact. They are very knowledgeable and I feel confident that they always do the best for my pet.

Can’t fault the place - my cocker spaniel has quite a rare neurological condition and first got referred to mochdre for hydrotherapy to help him with paw coordination, hydro team were class with him. Since then he got extremely unwell with a suspected gastrointestinal bleed and became severely anemic - again the team were great with my boy and showed so much care and compassion and looking into his neurological condition to get some understanding off his state Massive thanks to Jo who got us in nice and quick when kush was extremely unstable and the 3 vets that looked after him on check ups over a couple of weeks

Very upsetting, I’m sorry but this must be said, they use locum vets, and I believe staff turnover is poor… when I needed to visit Mochdre vets I specifically asked for a vet with dog pregnancy experience… the vet who saw my 7 week pregnant dog admitted she had no experience with pregnant dogs… she couldn’t answer any of my questions, she said for me to ask the receptionist which I did… the receptionist said she wasn’t a vet but she said would get the management to contact me re a second appointment with an experienced vet… they waisted my time and money. I can not fault the lady on reception she did her best but while she was dealing with me the reception was becoming very busy with dogs a cat and a bird… there where at least another 3 staff behind the counter but not helping… there was another customer at the counter with a complaint about his prescription not being given the correct information… That same week I visited Mochdre vets with my other dog for his booster vaccine… a 4 year old well behaved and lovely dog.. in that visit my BC on entering the vet examination room he was immediately nervous, trying to hide behind anything and wanting to leave the room… I was very confused because all other booster vaccine visits went well then I remembered his last visit there some 6 months earlier he had nearly torn one of his toe nails off… they took him to another room.. I waited in the waiting room… after quite a wait i was approached and told they’d have to give him a sedative to carry out the procedure re his half hanging off tie nail ?? They must have traumatised him for him to remember that last visit and not want to be in that examination room on this visit. So in this visit it was agreed again I waited in the reception area… a while past when they brought my BC back to me and said they couldn’t vaccinate him and that I’d have to give him sedation tablets the night before and the morning of my next appointment for his vaccination's. The correspond from Sarah vie email re a way forward after these 2 visits was very hostile. She says it was me being hostile ?? With the treatment we received yes I was concerned and I’d a right to give feedback honestly not in an hostile way… Anyway she has told me to go else where… I’m writing this review exactly as it was… very upsetting for my beautiful 4 year old fantastic temperament who didn’t deserve this treatment. To the readers/customers you make your own judgement… no doubt Sarah will reply to this review as she wishes…

My cat appeared home one day very spooked, minus his collar, & sporting a nasty wound on his belly. Mochdre vets were amazing, from the initial call with the receptionist to the care given, and compassion shown, by the vet, nurse, and receptionist. To both myself and Miller! Miller, although still very anxious, was putty in their kind, gentle, hands. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend 🙏

Mochdre Vets have been amazing. My dog was recently very sick and this vet did everything they could with dedication and compassion. They made every effort to keep me informed and even allowed me to visit my girl during her stay. When my girl needed weekend overnight care they referred my girl to a wonderful animal hospital. I will forever be grateful for everything they have done. Thank you.

Mochdre vets let my cat Lolly down! Lowri never looked at Lolly’s gums that were pure white indicating anaemia! She initially said Lolly had pneumonia after blood tests showing high white blood cells & rattling in her chest but after three more visits - 3wks later - after doing an X-ray it was confirmed with fluid shown pressing up into Lolly’s heart & lungs! Just two days later at a different vets (David Snaith) for a second opinion Lolly was again X-rayed & a mass in her chest cavity was clearly visible with fluid beneath (Lymphoma)! Why didn’t Lowri pick up on this in her X-ray performed just two days before? Plus the X-ray taken by David Snaith was done within 10 mins by vet David Snaith. He displayed such kindness & did a thorough check up of Lolly’s gums beforehand & immediately told us Lolly was severely anaemic! After this he did bloods & an X-ray showing a mass & fluid pressing up into her heart & lungs! My question is why didn’t Mochdre pick up on this in their X-ray? David Snaith the other vet did the same X-ray & he showed us a mass! Lolly was already dying by this time so Vet Mr Snaith put her to sleep with kindness & compassion! And we’re totally & utterly heartbroken for my 12 yr old Lolly! We later received a card of condolence from Mochdre but it was addressed only to my husband - the one who paid the bill! At Snaith’s we had a card addressed to ‘both of us’ with signatures from David & the staff & this meant a lot! I’m sure Lowri meant well but the X-ray showing only fluid was misleading! Lolly could’ve been made more comfortable in her last days of life with steroids instead of only antibiotics & for this she suffered greatly as a consequence! I feel so much guilt for her terrible suffering but Mochdre need to learn from their mistake too!

Regarding our Cat Pixie who fell ill a couple of weeks ago . She was just not herself the usual soft , fun loving playful and active Cat she also began hiding away for no clear reason , she appeared to be in a lot of pain too which was confirmed as infection along with high glucose levels and a few days later diabetes diagnosis . . so we requested an appointment with Mochdre Vets who saw Pixie that same day. Diabetes was highly suspected by the team though not confirmed at that point as Pixie needed a few more tests over the course of the week which by the Friday was confirmed and treatment began the very same day , this was a huge sense of relief to us though not pleasant for Pixie as at least we know this can be treated as initially that day before the visit to the Vets we feared the worst, we felt we were losing her knowing how quickly Cats can become ill and deteriorate . Mochdre Veterinary practice having had great reviews both online and by word of mouth in the area where we live is very close to the Veterinary practice and we have to agree with reviews and local recommendations , the Vets are nothing short of outstanding , as is the receptionist , all throughout have gone above and beyond in our opinion . My partner giving much credit to everyone at the Vets which installs a lot of confidence and gratitude in me for the expert and brilliant treatment of our much loved Cat Pixie by all at Mochdre Vets. Fabulous service , and my partner says fantastic staff . Below four pics of our beloved Pixie
