I have been taking my cat's to this vets for year's but on my last visit did not treat my cat that well at all no blood test taken just given antibiotics and pain killer and a lotion for skin infection two weeks later worst than ever 200 pounds for what!!! I have now moved to another vets very disappointed 😞☹️

We brought our Chihuahua puppy, Enfys, to Shepherd Vets on 19 June 2026 for her second vaccination and flea treatment. Enfys is a very small puppy, weighing only 1kg and due to turn three months old on June 26. Because of her tiny size, she had not received flea treatment at her first vaccination appointment, so we were naturally cautious. The vet prescribed Advocate Spot-On and advised us to wait a couple of days after the vaccination before applying it. I applied the treatment on Sunday evening. Shortly afterwards, Enfys appeared very uncomfortable, scratching excessively and seeming distressed. The following day, she became seriously unwell. She developed diarrhoea during the night, vomited after her morning meal, continued vomiting throughout the day, refused food and water, and remained lethargic. We rushed her to the Port Talbot clinic and explained that her symptoms had started after the flea treatment. As Enfys weighs only 1kg, I was extremely worried about the potential effects of any medication or treatment. When she became severely unwell after the flea treatment, I feared for her life. Small puppies can be particularly vulnerable to dehydration, low blood sugar, and adverse reactions when they are unable to eat or drink for prolonged periods. At the time, I felt that the seriousness of her condition and our concerns about a possible reaction to the treatment were not given sufficient consideration. The vet examined her, including taking her temperature. During this examination, Enfys cried out in pain when the thermometer was inserted. Despite our concerns that the flea treatment may have caused a severe reaction, we felt our concerns were dismissed. Instead, the discussion focused on possible bacteria, X-rays, additional vaccines, and referral to another clinic, with costs potentially exceeding £1,000. What concerned me most was that nobody explained how dangerous it can be for a tiny 1kg Chihuahua puppy to go without food for an extended period, particularly because of the risk of low blood sugar. Fortunately, I already knew some steps to help support her blood sugar levels. After returning home, we noticed blood coming from her bottom because the vet caused injury with the thermometer, which caused us significant distress. We contacted the clinic again, but felt that our concerns continued to be overlooked. At that point, I genuinely feared for Enfys's life. With help from a friend, we researched possible adverse reactions and focused on supportive care at home. Gradually, Enfys began to improve. She is thankfully doing much better now, although she is still not fully recovered. The clinic manager later contacted me and maintained that the treatment and care provided were appropriate. However, based on our experience, I remain deeply disappointed with how our concerns were handled and with the lack of acknowledgment of a possible adverse reaction. Every pet owner must make their own decisions, but my advice is to trust your instincts and seek a second opinion if you feel your concerns are not being taken seriously. Our pets are family members, and we rely on veterinary professionals not only for treatment but also for compassion, communication, and careful consideration of potential side effects.

Absolutely fabulous. Always friendly, understanding, sympathetic towards the pets. They listen and understand your point of view.

Awful reception staff. They totally let down brackla branch . Already destitute so having to pick up syringe every other day bad enough but....to give no needle and expect me to trolley back again. Luckily I had tip that worked here this time. But on both visits i've found receptionist is brash .thankfully I use brackla for the vets as have exotics. And that branch is far far above port talbot so go there if want better experience

Wish they would update on Google when they are closed, it says open but they are closed, what a waste of a journey
