Abbey Veterinary Centre is a veterinary practice and a listed Veterinary Nurse Training facility. Based on the reviews available, owners most often describe routine care (including boosters), support with anxious dogs, and end-of-life appointments, with several mentioning staff taking time to explain options and next steps. A minority of feedback raises concerns about medicine and consultation costs (including a specific complaint about the price of Metacam and the need for a paid recheck to renew a prescription).
Concrete examples mentioned include: a booster visit where a spray was used before the injection; a paw injury seen promptly after an initial call; a written medical report provided for follow-on care elsewhere; and multiple “final journey”/put-to-sleep appointments described as handled efficiently.

Visited here yesterday and can honestly say I have never seen such an amazing receptionist, don’t know his name but he is the type of receptionist everyone would want to empty. The Vet Harry, no words, just the best vet ever, Daisy was a different dog having him, he had all the time to explain anything and even made sure she had a spray before her booster, thank you Harry, PLEASE STAY!

I can’t speak highly enough of the team at Abbey Vets Brecon. Always friendly, professional and welcoming. The vets are extremely patient and understanding with my very nervous Cockapoo and explain everything clearly. Thoroughly recommended.

I took a dog here for the final journey - this was handled perfectly, caring but efficient. Other customers seemed happy with the service. I would recommend this practice any time. Parking easy, but also walkable from the bus stop and Brecon town centre.

My prescription had run out for my 16 year old staffie who needed Metacam. They insisted on seeing him £61.00 and then for a 100ml of Metacam I was charged £101.00. If I had bought it online with a prescription it would have cost £19.99 plus £3.99 postage. That is an obscene mark up. How can you trust a veterinary centre that thinks it is justified to mark up medicines by 400% on the retail price? I am beyond disgusted.

Unfortunately, on the last day of our vacation in Brecon, our dog had an injury to his paw. After a short phone call, the lady at the reception asked us to come straight over. The whole team was super friendly and helpful. The conversation with the doctor was super accurate and detailed, she asked many things about our dog Rookie to prepare for the treatment. She prescribed medication, gave us tips on further treatment and a medical report in case we needed to see another doctor. We are very happy that we found Abbey Veterinary Centres. Kind regards from Germany :-)
