The clinic describes facilities including separate kennels, an isolation area, and advanced lab capabilities, and it is listed as a veterinary nurse training facility.

A minority of reviews raise serious concerns about pain during anal-gland examinations, delays/mixed messages around whether biopsies could be done in-house, and complaints about consultation/prescription charges.

We brought our dog here for an emergency, and the team was amazing. They were calm, compassionate, and handled our nervous pet with such care. The vet explained the diagnosis and treatment options clearly and without pressure. While it was a stressful situation, their professionalism and kindness made all the difference. Follow-up communication was also excellent. We've found our permanent vet clinic.

The vets themselves are good, but the pricing is astronomical.its daylight robbery and total rip off. They insisted my dog had to have a consultation before they would issue another prescription, which consisted of being 30 minutes late, listening to his heart and asking me if he was ok. That cost £62, then they took another £31.48 for emailing a prescription...pure exploration and robbery

I am very distressed and angry by the vet who dealt with my dog. Took him in because he was scooting a lot. The vet examined him and it was an extremely painful experience for him, the nurse who was in the room at the time of the examination just stood there and never said a word of comfort, in fact she didn't even respond when I said hello to her. The vet said he had a lump in/or on his left anal gland. I was very upset as my last dog died of anal cancer. I told the vet this and asked for my pet to have a biopsy. She told me this was a very difficult site to get to and that it couldn't be done at Steffan vets and that he would need to go to the vet hospital in Bristol. I said that was no problem I had pet insurance. She then reassured me that he did not have cancer and that she would prescribe a course of Prednisolone, as she was the expert I took her advice. After the course I took him back for a checkup and she said the lump, which had been the size of a hard grape was now the size of a baked bean and said he had a thickened anal gland. Took him back a few weeks later and the lump was still the size of a baked bean but he had a slight discharge. Long story short 8 months later he was very grumpy so back to see the same vet and without looking at him said he probably had dementia! Examined his bottom and again it was extremely painful for him and told me that lump was much larger and that he had one in his right anal margin as well. She said his lymph glands were also enlarged and she did a blood test. Phoned me the next day and suggested another course of tablets, ? he may have an infection. Told her I did not want anymore tablets I wanted to know what was wrong with him. After scans, X-rays and a biopsy of his anal glands, this was done by a locum vet, something she told me previously could not be done there, my pet had adenocarcinoma of his anal glands with spread to his spleen and lymph nodes. You can imagine how I felt. Wrote a letter to the practice manager. Her reply was as expected a complete whitewash, and told in writing if I was not happy with the service I should have taken him for a second opinion! I went to see a professional and trusted her. I then get another letter telling me that the vet I originally saw when I first took him did not feel comfortable doing the biopsy. Total incompetence. They do not care. No one could tell me how long my boy had left, weeks maybe months. He lasted 7 months and was put to sleep on 23 December this year. I will never forgive the vet and would not recommend anyone using their service. Their prices are exorbitant. They used to be a very caring practice when the Thomas family owned and ran it. The response is laughable. They are sorry for my loss and that I feel this way. Its a joke but I'm not laughing. Today 08/04/2025. Despite my poor boy being put to sleep in December 2023 they are still sending me e-mails about their services. Total incompetent idiots. They should be ashamed.

I cannot recommend this practice highly enough. Shortly after arriving in Lampeter, our German Shepherd had a minor (thankfully) emergency. The receptionist was warm and friendly and got us booked in immediately. The vet (Marie) was wonderful and the pricing was transparent and very fair. Excellent service.

Both me and my spaniel owning neighbour have only good experiences here, great vets and lovely nurses. Also happy for me to pop in every now and again and use their scales in waiting area. Fletcher & Albert are always in good hands.
